‘An interactive gallery planned and designed by O D E D A L O N Y – architecture & design, initiated and produced by “Disk – In Pro” for the International Equestrian Federation in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The preliminary model was based on sculpting the horse figure as an origami (Japanese art of folding paper) element, which created an analogy between the equestrian sport and the art of folding paper; both require concentration and motor ability, and combine aesthetics, creativity and precision. Later on, the sculpture developed into an abstract white origami element made up of one spreading.
The object, stationed at the center of the gallery, is constructed out of metal pieces attached together, spreads and changes across the gallery and enables a spatial view of the space. The existing skylights become lighting fixtures printed in images and controlled by the smart lighting.
The object ultimately becomes an iterative table, both used to project images from the equestrian world combined with advanced lighting and sound. The design language of the sculpture is also present in those projections and the peripheral graphics of the space.
The gallery walls and ceiling are painted a dark color to emphasize the object (element).
Two 180 x 260 interactive touch screens made of glass stand vertical to the object, helping the visitor gain in depth perspective on the equestrian sport around the world.
The gallery is located in a remodeled building that houses the federation’s offices.
In addition to being a unique visitor center, the gallery also serves to host federation members, sponsors, investors and other distinguished guests.’
