Embroidery of paper shaping sections of tree trunks hovers weightless, evoking a sense of loss.

Britain’s native trees are in danger of being wiped out. Although they are usually replaced with saplings when they are felled the replacements are often non-native, faster growing species. Nature’s pattern is being wiped out and re-designed. It’s not just a shame to lose our native trees though; they often house wildlife whose survival is dependent on that particular species.
The work is inspired by the patterns formed by the pores in trees.
