The Divis Bench is shown at this year’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York.

The Divis Bench

The art of wood slicing using a wide plank of wood. Each end has the exact same cut only mirrored and rotated. A minimum intervention to an otherwise simple material that records a frozen moment of this action.
The Divis Bench, designed by Mike & Maaike, is manufactured by Council.

“The Divis Bench can be used independently, or in combination with a table, expanding on the structural narrative of planned imperfections.
A rectangular top split by supporting legs creates a surface locked in a perpetual state of tension. Stable and sturdy, the solid wood structure is available in black-stained ash or natural poplar and a variety of colours. The Divis Table’s refined joinery and unique treatment creates a visually arresting yet functional piece.”
