stación-ARquitectura Arquitectos have provided a base with the right conditions for creative opportunities to unravel. The space is part of the urban fabric, yet it is not a building but rather a permeable building. It carefully interweaves a series of pavilions and a park generating large public spaces.
The Ciudad Juarez MediaPark project stands as a major public open space for the city, a place for living, events and human relationships based on creative activities. The project is proposed as an open territory for events rather than a building or block with workshops or classrooms inside.
1. The first operation on the site selected for the project is the demolition of existing commercial structures freeing up space and pedestrian traffic through the territory.
2. The second operation is to have a series of separate volumes that houses part of the program (interior program) and define others around (exterior program) generating a large public space with different routes around these buildings that act as independent pavilions. These volumes are designed as reinforced concrete blocks cast on site looking for their material to be durable, resistant and incorporated into urban and public use.
3. The third operation is the incorporation of a park at one end of the site in which some programs interact to be held in open air and serves as a buffer and boundary fence to the built environment while small fragments of this park are distributed throughout the territory of the project providing shade, privacy, color and vegetation to exterior and interior spaces.
