1” Lighting Collection by Israeli Designer Aviad Petel

The individuality of this collection is created by the harmonious composition of extremes.

Israeli Designer’s Aviad Petel’s 1″ Collection is the transformation of 1″ wide veneer strips into lights. These elegant tubes become alive when lit; a magical warm light is filtered out between the veneer fibres.

Aviad Petel will present his work at the ‘PROMISEDESIGN – NEW DESIGN FROM ISRAEL’ Israeli designers group show during Milan Design Week 2011 from April 12 to 17 at via Ventura 15, 20134 Milan.

With his 1” Collection lamps Aviad Petel explores new ways to interpret forms and qualities of wood veneer. Each lamp of this collection is given an ‘edgy’ contemporary twist by combining the designer’s vision of perfectionism and aesthetics.

1” Collection are made of 1″ wide natural veneer stripes, delicately woven and individually stitched between slots of metal. The veneer stripes create both an impression of organic texture, and a strong spatial structure. The individuality of this collection is created by the harmonious composition of extremes – an extraterrestrial sensation is produced by natural materials, an organic body formed by equal geometrical parts, handmade within an accurately engineered construction.

When lit, a magical warm light is filtered out between the veneer fibers.

1″ Collection is available in four standard versions and dimensions: 99″ (suspension and floor) and 33″ (tabletop and wall sconce), additional models are in development.

Wood veneer has a special protective coating which allows easy cleaning and guarantees longevity.
