The Pampulha lagoon in Belo Horizonte an architecturally significant area and to build along its margin brings one closer to the modernist legacy. The building considers this recent history but also expresses its modern urban spirit with rural balconies and breezes. The land slope creates a dialogue with the building and proposes fittings and suspensions.
The house incorporates a dualism: The cantilevered front volume expresses intimacy and points to the future. The ground level sheltered backyard gathering space expresses timeless memories.
The house adjusts itself to the site through the use of steps and different levels creating a route from the street to the roof. The roof is turned into an observatory transforming the roof tops into terraces looking towards the horizon, the city and the mountains
