Kara Laricks, the designer of Manhattan based Collar, Stand + Tie, transforms a fragment of a banal piece of the average man’s wardrobe – a shirt – to a surprising, innovative wearable accessory, the Unisex Tie. The deconstructed shirt becomes a garment to be worn both by men and women.

The Unisex Tie is definitely androgynous, yet very sensual, as it brings in mind iconic erotic imagery, an athletic man wearing an unbuttoned shirt, or a sexy woman wearing nothing but her boyfriend’s shirt the day after. Take your pick! The Unisex Tie is a fresh and unexpected approach to the concept of the androgynous design, often expresses as austere and sexless.
