The Luzinterruptus team decided to celebrate the Christmas spirit with an action on the 23rd of December. They followed and recorded Santa Claus on his search for Christmas gifts! However, due to the crisis of the Spanish economy, Santa’s quest followed unexpected paths, ending up in Madrid’s overfilled garbage containers.

This minimum budget Christmas action by Luzinterruptus, named ‘Shopping with Santa Claus’ is intended to remind us of the increasing number of people that eat and live from what they find in the garbage containers. Despite the fact that this intervention by Luzinterruptus is intended to increase awareness on an issue affecting the social structure of Madrid, it also reminds us of the violent redistribution of wealth in all countries affected by the current financial crisis.

The action was photographed by Gustavo Sanabria.
