The Labo Shop has a dual personality. By day time it’s a bookshop – sales outlet for the experiments, productions and publications of Le Laboratoire.
By night its shop furnishings levitate to become light filled caissons, freeing the floor space for quests invited to taste the molecular cuisine of chef Thierry Marx, prepared in the food lab at basement level.
The arrangement recycles the system used in cool miners’ dressing sheds, splicing it to the mobile lighting booms used in film studios. The floor space of the LaboShop may be limited, but its ingenious remote controlled photographs make it a magic box that opens inwards.
