The Construction of Shift Housing in Cremona area designed by AquiliAlberg has been completed. The proposed typology renews “rank housing” which is manipulated and reinterpreted by the Milan Office improving at its very best the site characteristics and the context, which is the natural park of Serio River.

This housing project is situated on a 1000 sqm area and is composed by six two storey apartments. The first floor is lifted from the ground ensuring privacy, while at the same time the apartment interiors open up to nature, located in front of the main elevation. The concept idea came from researching typologies, the general quality of spaces, orientation and context. The primary aim of this study is the dialogue between Architecture and Environment, in order to achieve a high quality of living from the synthesis of artificial and natural elements.

Wide and deep private external lodges are designed to valorize the relation between the building and the natural site. These terraces create space and improve the relation between the interior and exterior, enjoying beautiful views of the Park.

The concept design is based on a prospective game in order to cope with the small dimension of the site and the local building regulation restrictions. Two elevated levels are shifted in opposite direction of a 4 degree difference, increasing the prospective effect. This raises dramatically the angle of vision, adding to the quality of the space. Hence the origin of the project’s name: Shift Housing.
