Yamaha Dolsa Wind is the result of the collaboration between Elm Design Co. and Yamaha Product Design Laboratory, which typically designs musical instruments and audio equipment. The concept model, first displayed at the 37th Tokyo Motor Show (October 2003), is presented at the DEMAIN, C’EST AUJOURD’HUI exhibition curated by CLAIRE FAYOLLE at the 2010 Saint Etienne International Design Biennial.
The Dolsa Wind image is of sound in open space. The vehicle moves without engine noise, carrying the rider through the wind as if in a glider, and at the same time invoking the sensation of playing a musical instrument. This electric model is intended to provide a leisurely and pleasant ride. Its unique frame recalls the image of a sleekly curved musical instrument, and the comfortable grip of the handlebars gives the driver a feeling of spreading his or her wings as if in flight, and enjoying the refreshing breeze.
