Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas presented the Y-3 Spring / Summer 2011 at the Park Avenue Armory on Sunday, September 12th as part of New York fashion week.

Adidas is an emblem of the hip-hop scene since the time of Run DMC and their Stan Smiths, but this season, Y-3 decides to change direction. The Y-3 collection, an ode to rock culture, is influenced by iconic rock figures as Joplin and Hendrix and reinterprets them in a contemporary way. The resulting look is the ideal outfit for an alternative, post-rock figure. The entire history of rock, comes back to life with military jackets, leather motorcycle vests, total black and goth asymmetries. The entire concept of the collection is based on escapism in rock culture, a theme that was underscored by the set up of the show as a rock concert and the soundtrack, a live performance of British band The Duke Spirit.
