Origin
Now in its fifth year, Origin has established itself as the UK’s principal fair for handcrafted products. This year it takes place at the newly refurbished Old Spitalfields Market, for one week during the London Design Festival.
Each year a panel of judges made up of curators, makers, craft retailers, journalists and ‘opinion formers’ familiar with contemporary craft, meet to select the most beautiful and inspiring work from established and new talent across a variety of disciplines: ceramics, fashion accessories, jewellery, glass, knitwear, furniture, metalwork, interiors and millinery.
Origin 2010 is delighted to welcome many Established Makers from across the UK and Ireland, as well as Scandinavia, Northern Europe, Canada and Korea. James & Tilla Waters, Andrea Walsh, Maya Selway, Claire Brewster, Yard Sale Project, Bloq.co.uk, Cathy Miles, Mogwaii Design, Gary Allson and Sarah Thirlwell are just a few of the highly talented makers who will be showing a wide variety of new and beautifully crafted pieces.
This year 30% of Origin exhibitors have entered on the New Makers Initiative a supported programme for those who have been in business for less than three years in order to discover the most exciting, fresh and experimental craft.
